You are at Joshh.net! This is the correct place if you have been given a login to joshh.net services. If you have not - you are at the wrong place :).
Follow these steps:
TOTP is just a fancy acronym for a code you are required to enter into Authentik, whenever you login. Similar to how many website and apps now send you a text/SMS message to your phone - however, this (SMS) is less secure compared to TOTP which uses an app on your phone or tablet to authenticate you. You can use Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator or any other app that you trust that manage TOTP codes for you.
When to use: If WebAuthn doesn't work for you, you prefer TOTP, or setting it up as a backup method for logging in.
How to use: Install an authenticator app and open it up, do any first time setup that is asked. Click on the TOTP Device option, you will be given a QR code - you can scan this using your Authenticator app and the app should give you codes that expire after a delay. You can enter this code into Authentik in the “Code” field and click Continue. Now anytime you login, you will be asked to enter the code from your Authenticator app that corresponds to Authentik.
WebAuthn makes online login safer and simpler by using devices like your phone or fingerprint reader instead of passwords. This not only protects you from many common online threats but also makes the whole process of logging in much easier and faster.
When to use: You should use this as your preferred method for the best security, and use of use when logging in.
How to use: Select WebAuthn device, and you should be prompted by your device to create a passkey and you can select which account it is stored under. Select the account you wish to use and click Continue. You will then be asked to provide your fingerprint, faceid, or whichever screen lock method your device is configured to use.
If everything succeeded - that's it! You're done the initial setup.
